Barred Owls 2015 — 2,483 Comments

  1. At least 4 visits and owlets line up in prime position to perch, one hops up, two contemplate their next move. Meanwhile when they moved away, a chipmunk is cached in the nest box. Currently, owlets are more interested in outside.

  2. Remember when. A visible symbol of what will come from vigilance and steadfast attention.

  3. At 2:18pm and 2:22pm Adult/Luna perches briefly and flies off. Owlets are excited and energized.

  4. Hot day. Weatherbug reports 86° and a feels like temp of 91° humidity mid 50%. Breezes were near zero. Owlets relax for now.

  5. Again, youngest is focused on the perch. In the corner #2 is face down and #1 is looking just amazing, staring at the cam, a mysterious big eyeball. Healthy, confident and strong.

  6. Youngest has been focused on the perch. Seems they stretch, flap and then attempt hops up to perch. A few small attempts, but it’s a start.

  7. 3 of 3. Owlets were having fun. All along gaining strength and stamina. They didn’t sleep much on Friday.

  8. 2 of 3. They were very active and not much of a chance to catch all three together.

  9. 1 of 3. From the midnight hour.

Honorable mentions 3 photos from last evening. Once again, so many to choose from and then I find a few that shouldn’t be passed by.

Practicing balance and having fun doing it.

  10. Blue jay feather at the owlets feet. They have a great food source this morning. It’s not easily visible.
    Owlets feathers are growing out.

  11. Looks like a blue jay annoyed Luna for the last time. Owlets were self feeding and dragged a tiny carcass around. Definitely saw a blue striped feather. Owlets were moving a lot and the photo isn’t clear. Got a half clear photo, cute young owls.

  12. Pretty eyes. So far this morning, youngest has been looking out eagerly. Up until now hasn’t shown interest in perching.

  13. Young owlets are 31, 30 and 29 days old today. It should get really interesting when youngest perches any time now.

  14. Well, this will be a good time to retire for the evening.
What a fantastic Day for the Barred’s.

Don’t know if I will make it at 6 a.m. tomorrow, getting ready to log off, sitting here and thinking about their lives and any day this week, they will be leaving the nest box.

  15. By evening they were getting better at hopping up to the perch. Once owlet made it in one hop. Impressive.

  16. 4 of 4. Perch feeding. This was a lot of work for the adult/s.
Quite a few feedings were only a minute or two apart.
