I believe neither of them have taken more than one step out yet. Soon they will take an extra step and be out in the open air without a roof overhead.
Confident young owlet jumped up to perch, where Luna stood. She flew off. A bit grainy, but still a great moment.
Too cute. Eager, watching for Luna. Bluejays were in the area and she wasn’t pleased when she left.
Surprised they have been awake for quite a long while. Hopping flapping, perching, preening, standing quite a bit, not flat out and napping yet.
Photo taken along with the previous outside perch seen in previous.
Guessing adult looks the direction of the mechanical beast.
3:58pm adult returned twice in one minute. Squealing chirp to owlets or to the mechanical beast outside.
3:43pm visit and owlets are hopping, scratching and very very active. 3:44pm food drop. 3:48 visit
3:33pm adult visits.
Food drop, looked like youngest got an insect. Watching one eye and not at computer.
2 of 2. Photo from earlier today.
1 of 2. Photo from earlier today. No idea who is who, but love the lighting and expression.
Beautiful. Look at those lashes. Can hardly believe I’ve got caught up on photos.
All three are back inside. The two oldest have been perched.
Adult arrives, no takers, adult leaves and one owlet perches again.
I was curious what will happen if adult arrives while they are out, but it didn’t happen yet.
Last photo in the food rejection series. Fantastic lighting.
No takers. Fantastic lighting.
Rejection. Adult brings grub/larvae and no takers. No owlet wanted it.
Adult had prey when it exited the nest box, seen from the perch.
The thought is there. Both owlets are bobbing and weaving their heads, measuring and getting a good look.
Youngest is alert to the activities but not interested in joining them yet. All 3 will not fit in the entrance… this will be interesting.
Owlet lays down, half inside half outside. Hard work preparing for a journey.
Two perched, the one closest to cam is #2. Looking down a lot…#2 is a bit larger than #1 and from inside view #2 is on the left and #3 is on the right as #3 the youngest preens and looks great..
Food drop. Very nice. See date and time on previous photo. THese were moments apart.
Looking good!
visit.
Only takes a minute. They aren’t still for long.
Will add today’s weather here and now.
Sunny and warm highs around 84° by 3-4pm.
very light breeze, no rain and low humidity, a great weather day.
Owlets are currently lying down flat and/or against the back wall. Changes by the minute, there’s an owlet.
Unsure if it’s still there, a feather was stuck on the wood and touching the IR cam. It may be changing the colors a little.
