Morning visit.
Stirring.
Early morning.
Another delight filled morning begins for young owls. Today I am thinking that they have an inner knowledge of their purpose, that they are born to fly.
It will take some time, they will not actually fly for at least a couple weeks after fledging. They will climb using beaks, talons and wings, getting some good hops and gaining in height and distances in flight.
Happening today…
Wonderful times.
Full house.
Food drop, a (suspect) segment of an earthworm.
In between visits, unset wings, deciding hop or not to hop.
Found more adult visit photos. Owlets feet size seem similar in comparison.
Preening and practicing, yesterday evening.
A very good look at those powerful talons. Interesting about young the barred’s, they are hungry, receiving morsels, sustained, but the goal is to get them outside now. Encouraging them out is the purpose and plan.
As the adults enter, the owlets react but they do not vie for food or attention at all.
Food drop, can’t say even guess it was, but it was small.
Wonderful to see.
Food drops were small morsels. From what I could see, it looked like earthworms broken in segments.
Even more exciting.
More excitement and a curious look from young owlet.
Exciting moment.
Adding photos from yesterday, some may not be in order.
Born to fly. Owlet was stretching and gave a wing flap, I thought it would keep going.
Much more to post, but it will be tomorrow. Come back.
What a great day for the Barred’s.
In preparation of first steps, young owl has a fantastic stretch of each wing, one at a time, the sunlight shining through was brilliant.
Brave young owl prepares for first step out. Rubs beak on perch surface. checking it out.
Owlet #2 makes it to the perch today as #3 stares, too funny, owlet was tugging hard at siblings toe. I have several groups of photos to add.
Warning: too cute alert, can’t help it.
Oldest and middle owlets made it! More updates later.
