  1. Feeding is finished as owlet had the last of the mouse. Luna comforts and bonds with the owlets, but she soon leaves to continue to hunt. They seem to enjoy her short stay.

During this time, owlets had there eyes closed. Luna occasionally opened her eyes, but same as owlets and probably for safety, eyes were mainly closed.

  2. Luna shredded a good part of the mouse, then owlet picked it up and swallowed the rest.

Close as it gets to a photo of four.

  3. Feeding continues, Luna is stunning as ever. All were waiting for food and gentle towards each other, nice.

  4. Owlets squat and relieve themselves. Seeing it more often. Not a clear image but it shows interesting behavior.
Wings up, owlet backed up to the wall.

  5. Time flies. Owlet tip toes to see outside and hopped a good way across the length of the nest box.

  6. Owlets have no fear, they expect food. High energy and excited, at 10:40am owlet gets air. Clear across the nest box, off the ground, a huge hop.

  7. Luna has since then flew out. It’s gotten quiet. The owlets didn’t recognize a threat, they pecked Luna’s legs for food.

  8. Orville Todd Middle School, local weather station according to weatherbug, Are you watching?

It is a chilly 49° now, in the nest area. Even more cooler temperature earlier, but this is my first weather reading today. The high will reach about 65° today, warm in the bright sun. Owlets will be comfortable and huddle together to stay warm. Another fantastic day for the Barred owls.

  9. Food deliveries are fast and it is amazing the variety of prey. For the two oldest, a mouse is swallowed in two gulps and not much chance for a clear photo. The youngest doesn’t have the full capability as of yet. As I mentioned intense concentration from the youngest to swallow a bat. There was a couple moments where he/she seemed to be struggling and fatigued. It was grueling for the owlet and difficult to watch and wonder.

Yet, Luna and Noche have delivered earthworms and moths. They still enter the nest box and feed beak to beak, ensuring they are each fed well. How is it, that an adult owl can choose worms and moths along with mice and birds. They are truly amazing.

Another point of interest is that the two siblings did not attempt to take the bat, they were still and allowing the youngest as many attempts as necessary. True, they were quite possibly filled. Another great indication that the adults are vigilant and steadfast providers. They each deliver a wide variety of food and almost catered to their individual needs.

  10. Owlets appearing to be hungry. Luna and Noche surely have there work cut out for them this season. Large feathers are visible , mystery meat perhaps on the right. Unsure if youngest managed to swallow the bat. The intense concentration, I was concerned for the little one.

  11. Incredible owlets relaxing once again in the back left corner. Color cam stays on the verge, a breeze blows the branches and brilliant sunshine reaches an owlets back, then color cam is on.
Don’t blink or you may miss it.
