Another fantastic photo.
More beautiful images.
Active. Strong. Backtracking in date/time all from this evening.
Also, Luna entered the nest box from about 9:15pm to 9:27pm I didn’t see or hear her exit, owlets were very active and seems they had a good feeding. No normal sound of shredding food, but a tight huddle something was going on.
Owlets back was to cam, unsure if the bat went down, but it was difficult, owlet was exhausted. In an attempt to swallow the bat, owlet spent a lot of energy and time. At least 16-17 minutes or more before I lost track.
Owlets lined up on the right side, after the left back corner, oldest/back, middle/middle and youngest closest to cam with bat wing still trying to get it down.
Youngest owlet continues to try to swallow bat. First photo shows owlet at 10:30pm. But these photos are after quite a few attempts.
Youngest takes a bat.
Youngest grabs a bat.
Youngest is having a difficult time getting down a bat. Good luck baby.
It’s that time, fast food drops, will try to catch the prey before its devoured! Three owlets, this is not an adult.
Hungry eyes.
Adult stayed a while longer..these owls are special.
Better view of the owlets laying close and flat. Not much competing for food. They do get excited at food drops but actions inside the nest box are gentle and calm.
Beak to beak feeding continues.
Beautiful and the feeding begins.
Adult visits, beak to beak feeding, seemed a good sized prey. Lasted a while. I’m thinking this may have been Noche. Behaviors different and the owlets react different too. Luna’s feather tips have been more jagged lately. Unless she’s able to bath and preen herself more now. The owlets chirped at feeding time, not so common any more. Nice.
Food line. Noisy owlet. Too cute as usual.
Multiple food drops, a mouse was dropped in and swallowed in a couple seconds. About 9:24pm
Three of three. Owlets do favor the back left corner, but at drop off time, prime spot remains at the entrance. These owlets are getting tall enough to peak outside.
Photo two of three.
Three photos as food drops were imminent. One of three.
Owlets 2 and 3, middle to the left, youngest to the right, oldest tucked out of view. In the previous photo all three faces are visible.
Collect moments. Beautiful owlets.
Waiting for food drop, earlier.
