Barred Owls 2015 — 2,483 Comments

  1. Owlet slightly panting as a dog barks and owlet puts on its defender face, lol. They are aware of many sounds and even though they don’t know the going-one, they react.

  2. A wing in the eye, a beak in the side… They get good momentum then lose balance, no one gets hurt. It’s a little funny to see how they react to each other. One walks it encourages walking. One stumbles and the wings go in all direction until recovery, which is quick.

  3. Luna covers the owlets, it’s 67° heading for 88° again today. In this weather she is very likely to perch for a good part of the day.

  4. Luna entered the nest box and looked like she grabbed ahold of the bunny. Owlets were fed, preened and she stayed a short while and left the nest box. It is warm and muggy, she may be perched and enjoying some night air.

  5. Good view of owlets legs, upright! Upon a great stance, owlet lowered the left wing as seen in the previous photo.

  6. Oldest stands tall and rests wings. Wow.

Hooting outside now. Luna may be arriving back soon.
Big dog barks. lol Juat another day…

  7. After half a minute Noche returned the bunny to Luna. Last I saw it, she had it in the nest box, but she flew out. Bunny’s whereabouts are a mystery for now.

Seems he did not fly off with the bunny, but he perched with it outside.

  8. Back to back photos, one second apart, but seeing Pretty Luna’s face, I am posting both.

  9. Abt 3:10pm Luna may have entered the nest box. Heard movement, either Noche did a food drop or she returned I missed it. But, its feeding time.

  10. Owlets 2 & 3 seem to have some friendly sibling rivalry going on. They preen each other and sometimes climb atop the other. “Typical “touching me” like kids it seems. They chirp at each other with a tone.

One of the two backed up behind Luna and the feisty one went to follow. Bored, Hungry? But, teasing in a gentle way it seems so.
Came back to edit my comment, because in the time it took to post the comment, both owlets are behind Luna now. One is following the other! Youngest still enjoys the prime spot.
