Changing by the minute…
Pink skin is no worry. Last season, my first season watching an owl cam, got concerned about the dark pink/reddish color skin. Come to find out it is quite normal.
Another fantastic day in the nest box. Youngest owlet is adorable, as they all are.
IR cam is off and on again and Noche just visited at 11:15am.
Defending the nest box is hard work. Extremely amusing owlet.
These images run mainly in order, but on occasion a photo is
out of sequence by a few minutes date/time. Owlet was looking outside, napped, defended and repeated.
Beautiful view.
Eyes fully open owlet is seeing things, perhaps leaves blowing on the tree, that raises the little ones sense of alert. lol.
Youngest gets the prime spot by the entrance this morning.
Luna pulled a larger sized furry prey from the corner (blue arrow) Owlet doesn’t appear hungry. Just voicing his/er opinions. All is quiet now.
Feisty owlet had a true hissy fit. Luna didn’t react, but owlet was loud. lol
Compare wing sizes.
A balancing act.
Luna tip toes softly, but the owlets wake as she gently walks (over) them.
In this photo, two owlets are “out” and one is underneath Luna. Upon Luna moving around all three were taking up a good part of the floor space. Luna was attempting to tip toe through them and finding it near impossible.
Temps heading to about 83° in the nest box area. Another sunny day ahead, Most of the day yesterday Luna was able to enjoy a bit more freedom outside the nest box. No doubt she was close. Same for her Noche. They could be heard calling to each other, continuing to build their bonds and raising their young well,
Luna’s feathers look wet. There is no rain on the dopplar, did she have a refreshing dip in the nearby stream? I hope so.
Another view of owlet leaning its head far back. Egg tooth is showing.
I must call it a night. What a fantastic day for the Barred’s.
Amazing to view these special owls. Thanks for allowing us to be apart of their lives.
Owlet had a catnap and waiting for Luna’s return.
They are very in tune with the outdoors, surprisingly.
Curiosity is a tiresome chore. Owlet stared close at IR cam, showed bravery and no fear, but that too takes a lot of energy. Owlet, closes his/her eyes and tumbled over. They are really fun and constantly changing now.
Curious owlet.
Busy owlets. Walking round, wings flaps and preening each other. But, not without some grunts from the sibling. Big yawn events also.
Another fantastic moment. Memories of Sol!
Doesn’t last too long, head goes back, falls off to the side. Hmm, seems one owlet looks familiar…
All three owlets with eyes fully open! Too Cute!
Last best image of Noche’s food drop.
Still trying to ID prey.
At 9:30pm Noche enters with prey. I can say (he) hooted one deep note and flew out. I had wondered before and feel more certain now that he enters the nest box to drop food even as Luna is outside,
Owlet had success with small morsels, self feeding.
What a flurry of activity from the owlets! #3 owlet’s eyes have fully opened! Now to pick from the photos…
