Barred Owls 2015 — 2,483 Comments

1. Barred’s settled in after feeding, preening and scooting along on their haunches.

   

2. Adding one more from the last feeding sequence. photographed at 2:25pm.

   

3. Similar photo, but in color, 3rd owlet visible.

   

4. Luna gently leans into the owlet as he/she seemed to rest upright on it’s haunches. It appears she used her head to encourage the owlet. Luna stayed still for a few minutes.

   Feathers are coming in nicely. Look closely, all 3 owlets are there.

   

5. Preening and bonding time, everyone has a full belly and it’s nap time.

   

6. Owlet was stretching and very fascinated with the outdoors and the noisy blue jays.

   The owlets were reaching up an snapping ir, feisty just like Sol.

   

7. Basically same time frame only color. Fantastic!

11. About 2:18pm Luna flies out. She returns with prey and appears to have been chased by blue jays.

    The color and IR cams are switching a lot today, but the next group of photos are after her return and the last feeding.

12. Owlet was walking on its haunches. Also noticed today they are preening themselves and even each other. May be the oldest, a tiny bit of pecking and shoving at sibling.

15. Warning: Too cute. About 12:38pm Luna stood and fed her owlets and they were a little playful.

    

16. One owlet finds daylight! For a brief moment. Too cute.

    

17. Luna was gone again at 10:48pm. She and Noche are hunting a lot more now. Owlets are well fed.

18. Luna returned 10:23pm with more prey.

    

19. Luna flies out again at 9:27pm

20. Seconds before Luna enters the nest box.

    

21. Luna left at 8:21pm and returned after one minute, then she flew out again. talons are visible. Possible its Noche? Luna and Noche were both hooting outside.

    

22. Couldn’t identify prey. But Luna fed her owlets.

    

23. Luna returned with prey at 8:10pm.

    

24. Luna was already gone at 7:21pm.missed her leaving. Cute owlets!

    

25. Cute owlets. Luna and Noche are protecting them. Noche was hooting and the crows are still close.
