Wonderful.
Soon…
Luna is rotating her body frequently, foot stomping and her tail is lifted high. Chattering her beak.
Luna is rotating, foot stomping and her tail is lifted high.
Chattering her beak.
She’s so pretty.
Minutes ago she plucked a few more feathers from her chest,
stood and turned around. No egg yet.
Beautiful Luna! Missed her getting back into the nest box. Sunshine is touching her lower (chest) area and the wood chips, her soft downy feathers are glowing in sunshine and blowing slightly, caught a light breeze maybe.
A nice day.
Her silhouette is shadowed as she surely enjoys the warm sunny morning.
More soft cooing sounds.
This morning Luna has created a pile of white feathers (left lower corner.)
I missed her working on her brood patch, but more evidence she is preparing.
Another great photo from Andrew. TY! This confirms that she was perched and she did fly off around 7pm last evening! That snow need to go!
Luna is perched and making soft sounds. a cooing/whistling sound. A very familiar sound from last season. It’s really nice to hear it again.
From memory, Luna left about 7pm after perching for a while.
Very vocal outside of the nest box at 10:30pm. One of them entered the nest box, turned around and flew out.
I heard monkey calls/ and various other hoot from the owls tonight.
I believe they had the nearby shepherd barking. A noisy evening, but it must have been great to hear them.
7:11pm I believe she just flew off.
Seems Luna enjoys perching this time of evening.
Thatever, about typos! lol Luna moved and I didn’t double check my comment. It is possible Luna enjoys the new view, but what I meant to say was I/we are enjoying the new cam view.
Oh, what an exciting day.
Fantastic!!! Egg should be soon then. Thanks so much.
I did read another tell “tail” sign is she will lift her tail slowly up and down during contractions.
Honorable mention, she’s been gnawing today and really enjoy the new cam view.

It appears Luna is starting her brood patch. I just saw her move and there wasn’t an egg in sight. I guess that answers what comes first.
Andrew,
That is hilarious!
Those wrens are daft or what? Luna is losing patience.
I have missed her soft calls. But, I wonder, is it a notice to
the wrens or is she requesting Noche’s assistance!
lol…pardon my typo….peas
Two pees in a pod
They were together a couple minutes and Noche left the nestbox. Seems he perched for a minute then flew off. Oh, maybe a food drop for her tonight?
As he flew out wood chips flew atop her head, but she looks too pretty to not post this.
Hooting! Then the pair entered the nestbox. Luna was on the left and Noche was on the right.
Amazing, she’s standing at the entrance peaking out, is she waiting for Noche? Looks like another round of Live Action in the nest box.
She’s alert, but within a couple minutes time she began closing her eyes.
Lovely Luna returns.
