Barred Owls 2015 — 2,483 Comments

1. A very good feeding. At one point Noche picked up the chipmunk, showed it to Sol, thought he was going to finish it, but he left it for Sol.

   

2. Sol had a mix of small morsels and chunks.

   Rare to see Noche’s face and eyes.

   

3. Chipmunk dinner, Suspect it was Noche who stayed and fed Sol.

   Nice to have the outdoor cam back!

5. Interesting owl stance. The positioning of the legs must be building stamina and flexibility. Sol is too cute.

   Nap time for Sol.

7. Sol is enjoying some R&R, listening to humans, staring at bugs crawling by.

   No sooner said, Sol begins to self feed.

   

8. Sol stopped eating to listen to the ice cream truck passing by.

   

9. Beautiful picture of Luna in her woods. The scarf of feathers is my favorite feature of the barred owl – that and the sweet face.

11. Good size prey in the corner, Luna was pecking at it and Sol has thoughts some where’s else.

13. Beautiful tail feathers of Luna and Sol. Each may be thermoregulating.

    

14. Only a matter of time before Sol becomes active, this is a treat to watch.

    Currently 64° in the nest box area, heading to 83°, mostly sunny.
    Imagine Luna spends the dawn hours with Sol since it is the coolest part of the day.

    Orville Todd Middle School, my last shout out, as the last day of school is close! I have no idea if anyone there is watching, weatherbug has it as the local weather station.

16. Pretty Luna with Sol. Wildflowergal commented in the SS that Luna arrived about 6:32am and fed Sol, who was very hungry.

    I just read your previous comments. I just want to thank you for bringing this cam to us all. I really enjoy watching Sol and cheering him/her on. Your very kind to invest in bringing us into a world that we would never get to witness otherwise. Unfortunately people watching don’t realize, before cams and even after cams, animals in the wild have handicaps AND 99% of the time we don’t even know about it. What if you didn’t have this cam, we wouldn’t even know about Sol or his leg….. I normally don’t leave comments like this but just know, that all of us out here, are grateful for what you’re doing and really appreciate it.

24. About the same time, Sol was left alone only after a few minutes, but owlet reacts differently with Noche and Luna.

    

25. To date the interior cam view has 273 Followers, 167,020 views.

    9:21pm Noche enters the nest box. Stayed one minute, as he often does, may have been a food drop, as he flew away Sol was chewing, beak was wet and owlet had a bad face… frog?
    Memories, when Luna first began brooding the eggs, Noche would bring her frogs and a few times, she hesitated before eating them.
    Sol wasn’t too happy with Noche’s choice of dinner, whatever it was, he swallowed it so fast and out of sight.. too funny.
