1. 6:32am She is laying down. Different behavior today. She flew in and layed down. She is tilting her head listening outside, but not moving, will she have an egg today. How fantastic will that be.

2. She looks so comfy. Great to see her.

3. 6:47 I hear her and there she is!

4. Cold, windy days ahead for Wappinger NY. Some snow in the forecast.
   Wonder, does she know this and she hunts more tonight? I haven’t seen or heard activity, but afk and mini wasnt exactly co-operating.

5. 1:25 pm Off Air for half a minute.

6. “Pegman” took a walk around Wappinger’s creek today.

7. Just after sunrise, light peaks in the upper left corner and through the day, it moves across like a sundial.

   Quiet in the nest box area. Distant birds chirping.

8. I originally thought that the owls perched in/on the entrance way. But, not one image Ive seen has shown the feet.

   Tweaked interest, this is fun.

   How does she/they stay perched? I’ve been looking at images of nest boxes and still am unclear how the owls manage to peak out from the box.

   Some boxes have kerf marks or tiny sticks glued inside, but is that truly all it takes?

10. That is definitely a large barking dog. lol.

11. 8:52pm tip of tail is in n out of view, but she’s still perched in entrance. Haven’t heard movement such as flight.

12. Seems that the sounds were her coming in for a landing, exciting.

13. Relieved to see the nest. Iphone was showing a black screen with counter and clock.

    Hello n thank you for the information. Have a few questions, but was waiting for the sure thing.

    Seeing suspect females tail, I am curious of the dimensions of the box and who added the wood chips, landlord or tenant?

    Also, Looks like the Carolina wrens won’t be back inside any time soon. They sure made a mess of things.

18. You were correct about the dogs. My neighbor has 3 German Shepherds.

19. Interesting factoid, that from a distance a barred owl may sound like a large dog barking. As I had previously heard what sounded like a large dog barking, in fact, very well may have been a barred owl.

20. I moved to the property in August 2012 and put up the first box that fall. Right before last years breeding season some interest was shown but they never actually entered the box. Instead they chose to use the hollow of a tree further back in the woods. The hollow was very small and offered no cover from the elements. One egg successfully hatched last year and as soon as they left for the season we installed the current box you are watching. The box is located only 30 yards from the tree they used last year and thankfully they seem to prefer it. There is a stream 75 yards from the box as well as power lines that cut through the woods. If there is any other info I can provide please let me know.
