1. This is a nice close up of Luna’s legs and talons.

   

2. Luna has returned and feeds Sol.

   

3. Here we see Sol grasping nesting materials.

   

4. A view showing Sol stumbling over the egg.

   

5. A few precious moments with Sol this evening as it waits for the return of Luna. Sol was doing some preening immediately adjacent to the egg, then maneuvered over the egg with some difficulty, began moving nesting materials around, grasping them in its talons.

   I believe that the egg has been a stumbling block for Sol from early on. I’ve expressed my views briefly in Forum. I wish that Luna would move it out of the way. I’m surprised it hasn’t been crushed by now. Would have provided some calcium for her and might have made it easier for Sol to move around with a bit more ease.

   

6. Sol is growing so fast.

   

7. Luna’s long legs, from earlier yesterday. Image was set at log in, so I got a photo.

9. How could I resist? SOL has a spot on the back porch. I understand if it’s removed… Lucky for me all the pots didn’t say Sun/Sol I would have bought them! Enjoy.

   

10. Luna preens Sol, so nice she’s moved to the far side of the box.

    

11. Suspect vole and an interesting subject in the far corner, can’t ID it.

13. Sol sits with the egg. Luna had her right wing covering owlet, she turned to prey, it looked like a vole. Andrew?

15. Still a bit sleepy. The feathers framing Sol’s eyes create not only a beautiful pattern but provide important protection.

    

16. Greeted by Luna’s “Sunshine” this morning. Magnificent way to begin the day.

    

17. Just for amusement, created a side by side of Sol’s back feathers and face. Been a fantastic morning watching the owls, heading out, Enjoy!

    

18. Haven’t see the egg, Luna may have left it under the entrance, she usually moves it with them.

    What a fantastic morning for the owls. Watching Sol intently staring outside still.

    Sol is 26 days old already. Egg is 56 days.

    Currently 71°, heading for 83. what a glorious morning it is.

19. Sol’s discontent. lol. Usually opens beak when excited, in fear or just the owlets disapproval of some going on’s outside, may be something we can’t hear. Very fixated on outside today.

    Too funny, Sol preens a little, looks up and opens beak. I get the sense Sol’s got some personality.

    

20. Did a double take on this one. What appears to be Sol’s face, is in fact, the owlet’s back. Sol is preening Luna, but after a short preen, was attempting to tuck under. Wondering, was it a true attempt to preen her or ask permission to tuck under. Luna didn’t open her chest feathers, so Sol tucks in the head.

22. Cannot begin to imagine what is reflected in Luna’s eye. She’s not looking up or outside.

    

23. Preening time. Sol has eyes on something else. Have a couple great photos of Luna’s eye. A real treat.

    

24. This photo is ahead of the previous one. Decided to add it. Luna entered the nest box, Sol was extremely excited to see her and prey.

    Luna’s long legs, interesting to see her walk for even a few steps. Must be even more interesting to see the owls walking on the ground.
