Encouraging Sol to self feed, fantastic!
Luna returns with prey for Sol. Gone about 12 minutes.
5:39am color cam came on, Luna made her decision…
Luna contemplates, should I stay? Should I go? She coos.
Busy morning so far today. Beginning with a visit from Noche. He sat for a few minutes, seemingly waiting for Luna to join him. He did peak into the nest box but did not enter this time.
Currently 70° in nest area. At least 4 times have heard owls outside, twice seen them. Going down to 56° Luna seems to be so close by, enjoying the night.
Sol is taking it in stride. Growing up before our eyes. Not much chatter going on, alone or with Luna, experienced warm weather today, panting earlier, no photo.
A fantastic day and a mysterioso night.
Sol heard both adults hooting outside, one of them landed on the perch and flew off right away. Left owlet not happy. Currently, rubbernecking and staring outside, too cute.
Sol seems to open the beak frequently when upset or afraid. Doesn’t make a sound. Luna, wasn’t reacting to Noche’s visit or Sols reaction to it. Been a while since Noche visited interior and Sol was surprised, to say the least.
Back to back photos, Sol had opened and closed beak quite a few times, no sounds came out.
Another different expression.
Yesterday afternoon Noche visited inside the nest box, after leaving Sol appeared shaken up, possibly frightened. Opening the beak and staring. Luna just looked on, confused.
Seemed amused with it, tossed it around a little.
Sol had an odd look, then up came a pellet.
7:31pm Luna returned! more soon
Thank you for all the screen captures. Sol is so bright and alert and Luna dotes on him.
One final one in this sequence, ending at 1:29 P.M.
Multitasking.
Sol continues to be distracted while Mom continues to preen.
And, those magnificent eyes say so much.
Sol continues to exhibit how alert it is and its constant awareness of all the external sounds — manmade and natural. A most curious and bright Owlet.
Sol follows Luna’s example and begins to preen itself.
Had the privilege of observing a lovely preening session early this afternoon. It began at 1:07 P.M. with Luna preening herself. Sol began preening itself and then best of all some wonderful bonding moments as Mom preened her Babe. Finally, Sol became curious about sounds from outside like any other youngster. Several shots in this series.
These trees are where they live. A beautiful day.
Currently 72° heading for 85°. Imagine Luna will allow space today and she’s been spending more time outside, Sol will play and stay cool OR Luna will shade Sol and try to keep owlet cool, lol. We shall see!
Pretty Luna, facing away. Sol getting ready to peck at prey. Nice cache. Egg still intact. Also, a tree-nymph protector of the tree, flying over Sol’s head. Some may say it’s a common fly.
Huge wing stretching today, used blue arrows to indicate Sol’s wings against Luna’s. Owlet has an eye on the prize.
