Barred Owls 2015 — 2,483 Comments

1. Do you know how many eggs she may lay?

2. Since 7:08am see her tail feathers at top of box where she comes in and goes.

3. Looks like shes staying.. might even lay an egg today. Good thin we added wood chips so the egg-eggs don’t roll.

4. Laptop crashed, she was gone when got back on site.

5. 6:51 am she is back. What a treat!

6. Don’t know how long she had been there before I turned on laptop.

7. Owl in box at 6:00 am. She left at 6:03 am.

8. Was AFK and arrive here this evening to find the box has what looks like wood shavings. Hmm, did landlord provide or are these owls that crafty?

9. 4:20pm Saturday. Off Air hope this is short lived! bbl

10. Hear sounds outside of box. It probably isnt raindrops since the sun is shining inside. Nothing appears moved since her (barred owl) visit last evening.

11. Abt 9:20pm she was in the box, clearing the area, created a new nest bowl area. Interesting too, she sat in the entrance hole for a few minutes, the tip of tail is visible along top of cam view.

12. 9:58pm, was away all day, checking in. Seems some live action occurred.
    Things are moved, the nest bowl area was rearranged by a couple Carolina wren, today more things have happened. The area is filled in completely.

    Will keep watch tomorrow. Wondering if there are new additions from outside.

13. 8:25am, quiet morning, dog barks a little.
    It’s been rainy and perhaps heavy cloud cover keeps IR on.

14. 10:03pm, I had cam on all evening and didnt observe an owl visit tonight. Raindrops but nothing out of the ordinary. Will check back tomorrow.

15. Nice and soft steady rain coming down. Missed IR CAM time.

16. Seven more “shots.” Most .45 hold seven. It’s powerful and distant.

    Ok, Be back later to await the barred owl return. High hopes.

17. 4:08pm sounds like rain. At first thought someone was pecking outside, now it is steady.

18. Sounds like gun fire. Echoing. Hmm, can I say that? 4:00pm

19. Thanks to the internet, I believe them to be Caroline Wrens. I hear tiny pecks and scrapes, they may still be nearby.

20. 2:40pm a cute pair, a wren type bird entered and tossed things all around.

21. Up against the back wall of the box, there is a stick that looks like a bird leg, or a bird leg is sticking up in the air.

    Looks to me, like a grouse type leg. Possible?

22. Owl entered, rubbed belly and wings on the floor. Hopped up to cam, then exited after a few minutes. How great is that!

    I hear sounds outside, may be that the owl is still close. Yes.

25. 12:42pm, someone is knocking.
