Luna has her beak upside down in the photos, owlet is nibbling away!
Beak to beak feeding was long, from at least 5:54pm to 6:03pm. Then Luna covered the owlet.
Getting strong, held head up much longer to be fed. Less wobbles too.
I tried to adjust the photo, but with movement and shadow this is as good as it gets!
The rain has really got everything coming back to life! Beautiful day there.
About 9:35am Luna was cleaning scraps of prey from the nest, didn’t see owlet at all, got lucky to snap one photo of egg.
9:41am Luna grunted 4-5x. Didn’t see or hear any action that would cause her to react. Be it either pleasing or annoying, no idea.
Still hearing them communicating. Two different chattering sounds.
Luna rolls egg and still seems things are going well.
Day 35 for the egg, hoping, fingers crossed today is the day.
Owlets eye will be opening in the next couple days, exciting.
Beautiful exterior view. Trees are greener everyday. LG.
11:13am chirping starts and Luna softly coos as if in response!
The lovely sounds and sight of the Owlet being fed by Luna around 6:00 A.M.
After listening to the OwlCam Sounds again, seems there are egg sounds and owlet sounds occurring.
The one longer note called hissing, seems to be the owlet.
The chatter sound may be coming from the egg.
Hearing faint scratching sounds, last time was at 12:36am.
At least the second time I’ve seen Luna off of egg. Only for a few minutes at a time, but she seems to knowingly have it out in the air.
She has stomped a few times recently.
She is so fast and silent coming in, I didn’t notice prey in her talons, but at least two captures show either suspect prey or just distorted pixels from her movement.
I smile at her reentry into the nest box. She hesitates, peaks in, listens and slowly rolls back in.
Luna’s return.
That is one delightful owlet and one bewildering egg.
Thanks again so much for inviting us in to watch these owls.
A gift from Patticake98, a video from tonight’s feeding.

From earlier
Here is another capture. It looks as if the egg was an obstacle for little one. Nothing is going to keep this owlet down.
Here’s another. It was glorious.
Have been watching little one for the past several minutes putting so much energy into trying to raise itself up. Truly amazing and wondrous and glorious.
And another of Luna & her little one. 🙂
Luna feeding baby!
Pretty bird 🙂 Sara, I saw the baby wobbling around the other night too it was cute & funny.
Luna with 2nd egg
You’re welcome Carol. I love owls! Luna is a very pretty bird. A friend at another site told me about these owls. I was lucky enough to be here and see when the 1st egg hatched!
View of Luna’s lovely plumage and partial view of talons this morning.
Luna doesn’t seem to want to show us her eaglet or the second egg this morning. A view, however, of her lovely plumage.
Thanks, Fran. Thank you, Bob. That happens sometimes, but at least you did get to see the owlet and those littlest of wings. It’s developing so quickly.
Thank you, Sara, as well for posting that capture that showed a clear distinction between the owlet and the unhatched egg. Wishful thinking overcame reason and restraint on my part.
That’s what I saw. Isn’t that baby the cutest! Glad you got the pictures,
Fran beat me to posting pics but I saw it too. 🙂
