1. Hello Sara, She is keeping them close isn’t she?

2. Luna is very busy . got a pretty good look at one of the eggs.

   

3. First egg laid 4 weeks ago today, 28 days. Hatch Watch Saturday 12:00am!

   Luna has a full belly and the heat/ energy from those eggs warming her up. She’s occasionally panting.

   53° heading for 64°. Later in the evening, an 80% chance of rain showers into early a.m. low 44° for the nest area. bzzzz a bee is close by.

4. Noche brought large prey last night, Spotted by crysti2 and there is one large bird in the nest box.

   Luna will feast!

   

5. She is well and good! But in that moment, seems she needed to fly away and stretch.

   I did not see her leave at all today… anyone?

6. Honorable mention:

   Luna had a good day, but you cannot judge a book by it’s cover.
   She bit the cam and had a moment of cabin fever, perhaps.

9. Luna wasn’t happy with a frog. By time she got around to eating it, it was covered with shavings, who cooks for you? Noche needs lessons. I am not judging.

11. Andrew, too funny, she didn’t seem thrilled with a frog. He lingered long enough for a photo op… while she sighed, a frog… Luna’s Extreme footage, frog leg and the wonder filled egg. yippee.

15. Sunrise on a chilly morning, close to pip/hatch now.

    Sunlight touches the tops of the tall trees, then peaks through.

    It is a quiet morning today, she has adjusted the eggs slightly.

    Currently, 39° heading to 60°. Sunny! But cold again in the nest area tonight, into the high 20’s. Saying high 20’s doesn’t make it feel warmer at all.

17. A real treat to see her still for that length of time. She was looking down, listening. Wonder what she heard?

    Is Luna sensing it’s time to build a cache? Exciting it is.

18. Abt 8:28am Luna climbed out onto the perch. A wonderful view of her, she appeared to be hunting. Casing the ground.

    Staring at the ground for a couple minutes, looked around, gently, slow motion almost, she made her way back inside the nest box.

    Her long wing was outside of the box as she gracefully slid back into the nest box! Interior cam, Eggs looked great, one was half out of view.

19. A calm beautiful morning so far. High of 57° currently, 46°

    Partly sunny. Scattered showers this morning. Cooler with highs in the upper 50s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
    Partly cloudy in the evening…then clearing. Much cooler with lows in the upper 20s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

    Orville Todd Middle School students, you will need a jacket tomorrow!
    If this is indeed true.

20. IMO When “suspect” of any prey, it is for the sole purpose of attempting to ID the prey. Luna may very well have had a vole.

    Going forward I will refer to unidentified prey as furry, feathery or slimy.

    I imagine food drops will significantly increase soon!

21. Give or take 30 seconds, she was back! my photo from 6:19am had the time along the top as Screen shot 2014-04-23 at 6.19.52 AM.png

22. Beautiful to see her in flight, but missed the photo op.

    While she was out, got sight of both eggs, looking great, perfectly shaped no pips visible.

    

23. Luna exits the nest box with a suspect rat. She slept in, awoke and flew out quickly. I didn’t see her pick up prey from inside but she did leave the nest with it.

    This was 6:19am and she returned 6 minutes later. Her typical routine has been that she is away for 6-8 minutes.

    

24. Possibly Noche leaving. Cam view froze and then owl appeared while Luna was still inside.

    

25. Pulled this photo from screen capture archives… Luna had visited inside and shimmied out a nest bowl. Deciding to move inside.

    What I believe were Carolina wrens, decided they wanted the nest box too and rearranged it completely.

    Luna obviously returned and shimmied out a new bowl, then new shavings were added via kind humans.

    Occasionally, the wrens till return and give her a scolding.
