1. Luna seemed to be taking in some deep breaths this morning. Didn’t hear the calling that I have heard at others times in the early morning. Wonderful bird song in the background.

   

2. Honorable mention: Forgot to add, that Luna chattered her beak and grunted a few times at 6:02a.m.

3. Temp at 27° in the nest box area. Very cold after a few warm days.

   Luna is breathing long breaths, looks cozy and relaxed, yet always listening. She preened, rolled eggs and spun herself around, eggs weren’t visible.

   Very quiet morning so far. The birds are slow to rise.

4. Most impressive he is, Fran!

   Luna left box at 8:01, Or thereabouts. Cam zoomed in with one egg visible,
   Earlier both were visible and she may have shifted them due to the rain.

   She’d been getting rained on, angle of wind n rain.

   8:09pm she’s back atop eggs in a hurry.

5. IR and color are on and off again, a rainy day of April showers.

   Pretty Luna has beads of rain on her feathers. She and the eggs are warn and dry.

   Recently, she preened a lot in the area of her uropygial gland. Wondered, does she know it will rain and she is preparing herself.
   It has paid off as her feathers wick away the raindrops.

   She is so pretty!!! Preening away.

6. 8:42a.m. cam is Live. Good work by the engineers!

   Luna has since turned around, facing the back wall of the box, spun her head around, looking out, with beads of water on her tail.

   She fluffed her feathers and the traces of water beads rolled off.

7. 8:39a.m. USTREAM had a major crash or something. Message is~ they have a temporary error and their engineers are working to resolve the issue.

8. 8:33am IR is still on.

   Dark rainy weather and a cold front, temps in the nest area will drop from a rainy 68° to possible sleet tonight with low at 29°

   8:36am color cam is trying to stay on.

9. The nesting facts posted from yesterday stated the eggs have rough surfaces and we did get a good view of that yesterday.

   I am still on island time, missed sunrise completely today.

   Smiling with wonder, what will we see new today? What will we recognize and smile at its familiarity!!?? woot woot as “canadianhoot” would say. For clarity, that is a “she” and she is a social stream viewer.

11. Last night’s food drop, it was quick. Noche did not enter the box. He served Luna a bat from the entrance way.

    How fast must an owl be to catch a bat? That fast. Fantastic!

    

12. Luna displayed one of her eggs early this afternoon. Hadn’t seen it for a bit. Appeared to have an area of roughness on the surface. I don’t remember seeing that before. In fact, I had been impressed by the color and smoothness of the eggs.

    

13. Luna hears something.

    

14. She is warm and panting again today.

    The next few upcoming days, temps will be freezing or lower at night.

    They have a fantastic nest, a great shelter from the elements.

16. Tonight is a Total Lunar Eclipse, hope it is visible. Maybe Luna is
    connected. Are her calls really to Noche? lol

17. Luna is gnawing at wood chips. She does this frequently after rolling the eggs. I imagine being inside trees, they gnaw at wood inside the tree to create shavings. She chewed a few minutes and settled onto the eggs.

    Heart shaped feathers are showing near her tail. Have seen 3 hearts in a row, but currently only one is visible. Too cute.

18. What a beautiful owl she is!!!

    A very windy day! She’s called out a couple times again, as recent as the last couple minutes. Resting well, but sure thing, she’s listening.

19. Two full hours, she’d been calling. Since then, she’s stopped.

    Facing the entrance way, nice breeze is coming into the nest box.
    Will come in handy as it warms up today!

20. It’s been over an hour now, she continues calling to Noche, who must be farther than an earshot away.

21. 7:17am she whistles single notes.
    7:24am she is whistling at least 2 times per minute.

    Lasted ten minutes and she turned herself around, her back to the entrance and spun her head towards the entrance.

    7:43am she began a whistling one note call again. Currently, her calls are 4 per minute.

    8:00am she still continues to call for Noche. Louder calls.

23. Luna spent some time later this afternoon grooming. She seemed a bit restless overall. The loosened and dropped feathers are just so beautiful. Love the way the light plays over them.
