Only two eggs today. I think that 2 is the magic number. I’m looking forward to the end of the month when they hatch!

After you mentioned the creek, I remember that it was mentioned in the beginning and it didn’t sink in.
I was wondering about the nutritional value of a frog vs. a vole.
I imagine a frog’s skin will digest vs. the indigestible bits from a furry critter. She may be getting better nourishment?

The owl box has a creek nearby. There hasn’t been rain in days. I mentioned this to Mike and he had me look up voles and it is the rodent he has brought twice. I found an article on voles near Silver Creek. They go to the creek to drink and fall in. As they try to get out, the Brown Trout eat them. I’m thinking since we have seen two wet voles and two wet frogs, he prefers hunting at the creek. Just thought you might find this interesting or helpful.
Once again was afk, didn’t get the time she arrived back, but heard her enter. It was about 6:22am. Still worth attempting to estimate the lengths of her time away from the nest.
Almost 8:00am, she’s still and content.
Color cam is on.
6:11am Luna flies off. Two eggs looking real good, down is blowing in the breeze.
Wowie, she is pretty!!! Makes me smile to just look at her.
Noche brings Luna a meal at 12:15am. Luna started hooting at 12:11am. She hooted a couple more times at 12:12am.She is then quiet until Noche arrives outside the box and then he started hooting at 12:14am. Enters box at 12:15am. Bon Appetit.
10:13pm Luna may have had dinner out tonight. I am calling it a night. Be here early, hopefully catch breakfast.
Lune saw something she didnt like, she took off outside and now they are both hooting. It is some distance away.
7:45pm Luna saw something she didn’t like outside.
I will add a close estimate of Noche’s food drop/visits to the nest box the last couple days.
5:12a.m./6:16a.m. he visited inside the nest box and dropped food.
8:46p.m./9:36p.m. same.
Prior to arriving at the nest box, you will hear faint “hooting” in the distance. Luna instantly reacts, begins cooing softly. Sound gets closer, he gets closer and enters the nest box, handing off prey to Luna. His visits usually last a full minute. She coos soft the entire time. A wonderful bonding time for them no doubt.

So far, a great day inside the nest box. She’s enjoying sunshine on her beautiful face. In my opinion, safe to say she enjoys it, reminds me of my cats. If there is one square foot on sunshine on the floor, they find it. She looks very content.
Shouldn’t miss an egg in this position.

She has interesting heart patterns in her feathers. Seen a total of 3 in a row. May be that she will have 3 eggs? For amusement purposes and hopeful thinking… today we may find out.
Since last evening she has eaten twice that I saw. Each time, Noche entered the nest box and made a food drop.
Last evening, 9:36pm a frog and 5:12am a rodent this morning.
It begins with distant hooot. She begins to coo. Sound gets closer, louder. He lands either on the box or the entrance way and enters.
She coos in a soft way every time.
This morning his stay inside was very short lived, barely had his feet on the floor and back out. It is a real treat to hear and see all this.
Rodent/prey was dripping wet. She held it in her beak for half a minute, swallowed hole. Possible rain there? Not indicated on weatherbug. But, it’s raining lightly here, in Delaware.
May need to try “accu weather”
Thinking about their hunting abilities. Wet, reflective ground, yet he found prey.
Need to brush up on rodents… can’t ID the critter by looking. Sure this isn’t a chipmunk.
***Correction, it was 5:12am not 6:12am. He entered the box very briefly and dropped off prey.
Cooing and distant hooting again. She continues to coo, but its a deeper tone.
6:12am Hooting n she begins cooing. His hoots are faint but she’s aware. Is it breakfast? hope so.
1:53am Stopped by to check in, curiosity what she does in the late night, early morning hours. She rests, peaks out and listens. Nice even breathing, enjoy watching her breathing, so relaxing, speaking of, time to go back to bed.
Sat n watched for a few, no changes. But curious, does Noche arrive through the night with prey, saw no evidence to that.
