Early evening, she’s out and may be hunting. At least enjoying freedom of flight for a few minutes.
The only capture showing food drop. So fast, almost missed it.
She peaked one eyed then went out for a flight, I imagine, didn’t hear if she perched or flew.
Peaking one eye.
Beautiful, nearly matches the day time photo. Will try to catch a food drop if I didn’t miss it already.
Appears a Beautiful day for the Barred’s. Lovely little heart feather is showing.
ONE YEAR AGO TODAY, Luna has her first egg of the 2015 season.
A few days back, but rare daytime glimpse. Pretty perfect eggs.
She was flapping and displaying to perhaps dog or crow that were too close.
Three eggs, first arrived 3/11, 2nd 3/14 and 3rd 3/17
As of Today: Eggs are 14 days, 11 days and 8 days old.
Life is good, a fantastic day once again.
Striking daytime view. Dogs barking and a crow cawing, she was protective. Flapping wings in the entrance way and backed in to shield the eggs.
Beautiful eyes. Thankful for the mouse.
As he exits, chow down time. Mouse disappears quick.
During food drops they seem to have an occasional tug-o-war, he doesn’t always let go. Makes me wonder, is she mantling, showing him a striking pose, protecting the eggs, or even all of these things.
Food drop.
She enjoys the mouse very much. Frogs, still a different story.
It’s been a good week for the Barred’s. Tonight, an extremely windy night.
Safe and sound box but you can hear the whipping winds outside.
Meanwhile, I will be adding a few beautiful photos from the week.
All is good for the Barred’s. A fantastic Day at their NY nest box!
Luna’s heart feather showing stopped me in my tracks. There is joy in the tiniest of things. Enjoy!
She’s back 9:44pm.
She leaves a few minutes after he did… 3 eggs.
Food drop mouse. Luna enjoys her meal. This happened minutes ago, on 3/18. Very nice.
Beautiful Luna has her third egg! More info coming soon.
Here she is, removing the frog . She stopped at the perch and I am unsure what she did with it.
He came back fifteen minutes later with frog #2.
She accepted the first frog and ate it.
I read that they will tend to favor a certain food that they received as young owlets themselves. Seems he was fed frogs and she was not.
